Every Velora student is encouraged to stretch beyond what they already know: to ask bigger questions, explore deeper ideas, and discover the joy of being intellectually and creatively challenged. Our Enrichment & Extension Program is designed to recognise each student’s potential and provide opportunities that nurture their talents, passions and ambitions.
This program sits at the heart of our learning philosophy. When Student feel supported, inspired and challenged, they achieve extraordinary things.
Gifted students
Individual learning profiles
Students formally identified as “gifted” through an IQ assessment with an associated cognitive report are provided with a Learning Profile (LP), outlining areas of strength and strategies to support their learning. These students receive in-class differentiation, targeted extension, and additional enrichment in their areas of strength, along with access to external competitions and learning opportunities where appropriate.

Competitions & challenges
Velora students regularly participate in high-level events that expand critical thinking, creativity and collaboration. A feature is the national academic competition "da Vinci Decathlon," in which Velora both hosts and competes, celebrating excellence across mathematics, engineering, literacy, philosophy, creative thinking and more. In addition to this, our academic extension opportunities include Mathematics, Science and Ethics Olympiads; Engineering and Coding Challenges; and writer’s workshops, poetry competitions and public speaking festivals.

Enrichment at Velora is not a separate stream, it is an integrated approach embedded across the school. Students access extension through specially designed challenges, competitions, workshops, interdisciplinary projects, mentoring and high-level academic and creative opportunities.
Pathways
Personalised pathways
Some students require bespoke opportunities beyond the regular timetable. Velora supports this through individualized subject acceleration (as appropriate); independent inquiry projects; partnerships with external organizations, universities and industry; and scholarship preparation, mentoring and academic coaching.

Arts extension
Students with passions in visual arts, drama, music and design can access a range of extension opportunities including artist-in-residence workshops; extension ensembles; specialist design challenges; and opportunities to exhibit or perform original creative work.
Our enrichment program ensures artistic talent is nurtured with the same intentionality as academic talent.
