Find Their Place in Music
Velora offers a wide range of ensemble and performance opportunities, designed to meet students where they are and extend them as their skills and confidence develop.
Choirs and Vocal Ensembles
Singing plays a central role in Velora'smusic culture. Students can participate in a variety of choirs and vocal ensembles across year levels, ranging from open-entry groups to auditioned ensembles for more experienced singers. These groups perform regularly throughout the year and foster musicianship, teamwork and confidence
Orchestras and Strings
Students learning string instruments are supported through a strong orchestral and string ensemble pathway. From Junior School string orchestras through to advanced ensembles in the Senior School, girls experience the discipline and joy of ensemble performance while developing technical skill and musical understanding.
Bands and Contemporary Music
Velora's band program includes concert bands, wind and stage bands, jazz and contemporary ensembles, as well as student-led rock and contemporary groups. These ensembles allow students to explore a range of musical styles, develop performance skills and collaborate creatively with their peers.
Learning through Music
A Place to Discover, Develop and Perform
Music at Velora is a vibrant and integral part of school life. From first musical experiences in the Junior School to advanced ensembles, performance pathways and VCE study, girls are encouraged to explore music as a form of expression, collaboration and leadership.
Our program is deliberately broad and sequential. Whether a student is discovering her voice, learning an instrument for the first time, composing, performing in an ensemble or pursuing music at an advanced level, there are multiple entry points, and opportunities to grow.

Pathways
Music at Velora is thoughtfully structured to support students at every stage of their schooling.
Junior School
In the early years, students are introduced to music through singing, movement and ensemble participation. Choirs and introductory instrumental ensembles provide accessible entry points, building confidence, listening skills and a love of music.
Middle Years
As students progress, opportunities expand to include a broader range of ensembles, instruments and performance experiences. Music learning becomes more specialised, while remaining inclusive and supportive.
Senior School
Senior students can participate in advanced and auditioned ensembles, take on leadership roles within the music program, and pursue music as an academic subject, including VCE Music Performance. Performance, collaboration and musical excellence are balanced with creativity and personal expression.

Performance
Opportunities to Perform and Celebrate
Performance is an integral part of music at Velora.
Throughout the year, students perform at school concerts, special events and community occasions. From informal lunchtime concerts and soirees to major performances such as the Gala Concert and special school celebrations, girls experience the thrill and discipline of performing for an audience.
These moments not only showcase musical achievement, but also build confidence, resilience and pride.
